Tulip Garden, Kashmir

The Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden (also known as Siraj Bagh) in the city of Srinagar is adorned with over 1.5 million tulip bulbs of different hues from an ensemble of 68 distinct varieties of tulips. Sprawling in approximately 30-hectares of land, this major tourist site in the heart of the city comes to life during the spring season when the grand Tulip Festival is held annually to showcase the wide range of flowers in the garden. The garden has entered the World Book of Records (London) as Asia's largest such park.

Besides tulips, the garden has over 46 other varieties of flowers including hyacinths, daffodils, ranunculus, roses, narcissus and other ornamental plants. The water channel running through the terraces adds more charm to the place, and the picturesque site of this magnificent flower-landscape doesn't fail to leave one spellbound.

This popular attraction is open throughout the year for the visitors. However, the best time to visit the Srinagar Tulip Garden is the spring season, particularly the first two weeks of the month of April. During this time, tulips are in full bloom and the annual grand Tulip Festival is held which aims at flaunting the natural beauty of the garden and the rich Kashmiri culture.
